please update auto lighting algorithm
1- make exposure ranges when CAM stepper motor position
when less than 9 mm then use -9 exposure
when between 10-100 make it -8
when larger than 100 make it -7
2- your changing LED much just checking when change it a little what happends, and dont move, and if in range dont change it because we need stable
I’ll update the lighting logic in the uploaded C++ files: first I’ll trace the current checkbox/auto-light flow, then change exposure selection to depend on CAM position and make LED adjustments small, stable, and no-op while already in range.
I found the source of the instability: the current standalone auto-light starts at LED 255 and sweeps down in large jumps, and it also switches between exposure -8/-7. I’m replacing that with a fixed exposure derived from CAM position and one small LED step per measurement, starting from the current LED instead of resetting it.
The main behavior is now changed: exposure is no longer used as a brightness-control knob; it follows CAM position, while LED moves only ±5 after two consecutive out-of-range samples. When all metrics are in range, the code holds both settings unchanged.
I’ve kept the existing image-quality ranges, so the acceptance criteria did not change—only the control behavior did. I’m doing a final source-level check now and packaging the updated pair plus a patch, without changing the autofocus implementation itself.
Updated the auto-lighting controller in mainwindow.cpp/.h. The original controller was built around an LED sweep and exposure changes (mainwindow.cpp), with its state stored in the standalone checkBox_2 lighting section. (mainwindow.h)
Changes:
< 9 mm → exposure -99–100 mm → exposure -8> 100 mm → exposure -7I treated the undefined 9–10 mm gap as exposure -8, so the boundary is continuous.

autofocus.cpp/.h are included in the ZIP unchanged; this update targets the standalone continuous auto-lighting controller.
make it better, faster and more stable mean in range 80-200 if in this range stop changing anything, also while motors moving do auto lighting if not working well, and dont down slowly in LED, if there are gap, like make changes 1-100 in LED depend on gap in mean, focus better in mean
I’ll tune the controller around mean only as the primary decision: 80–200 will be a hard “hold” zone, and outside that zone the LED jump will scale from 1 to 100 based on how far the mean is from the nearest limit. I’ll also make sure the controller keeps evaluating frames during motor movement instead of waiting for motion to finish.
A useful stability change is to measure first, then decide. I’m making startup preserve the current LED/exposure; if the first mean is already 80–200, the controller will not touch either setting. Only when mean leaves that band will it enforce the CAM exposure rule and then make a proportional LED correction.
The adaptive response is now proportional instead of “walk down slowly.” For example, a mean just outside the band gets a tiny correction, while very dark/bright frames can jump tens of LED counts in one move, up to 100; large errors correct immediately, while only near-edge errors require a second confirming frame.
The updated controller is packaged. I also checked for remnants of the old fixed-step/sweep logic; those symbols are gone from the current mainwindow.cpp/.h, so the standalone auto-light path now uses only the adaptive mean-based correction.
Updated it. The previous controller could keep changing because it required all brightness/percentile/contrast metrics to be in range, not just mean, and it used a stepped LED sweep. (mainwindow.cpp) The old timing was also 250 ms monitoring / 80 ms settling. (mainwindow.h)
The new behavior is:
< 9 mm → -99–100 mm → -8> 100 mm → -779 → about 270 → 1340 → 510 → 100205 → 10230 → 55255 → 100Files:

autofocus.cpp/.h are included unchanged in the package. I source-checked the changes and removed the previous fixed LED-step/sweep logic; I couldn't perform a full Qt project build because the complete project/build files weren't provided.
