Here are a bunch of practical ways to practice English—pick 2–3 to do consistently, and you’ll improve fast.
Every day (10–30 minutes)
- Shadowing (5–10 min): Play a short video (news, vlog, TED-Ed). Pause and repeat the sentence copying rhythm + pronunciation.
- Speak out loud (5 min): Describe what you’re doing (“I’m making coffee… I need to reply to an email…”)—sounds simple, works great.
- Micro-journaling (5 min): Write 5–8 sentences about your day. Then rewrite once using simpler/cleaner grammar.
Listening that actually helps
- Use subtitles smartly:
- Watch with English subtitles
- Rewatch without subtitles
- Write down 5 useful phrases
- Choose one topic you like (sports, cooking, tech) so you don’t quit.
Speaking practice (even if you’re shy)
- Record yourself (voice memo): talk for 60 seconds about one topic. Listen once and note 2 things to fix (a word, a tense, pronunciation).
- Conversation exchanges: Language exchange apps/communities can help you speak with real people (short calls or voice messages).
Reading + vocabulary (without memorizing lists)
- Read short stuff daily: news summaries, short stories, Reddit threads, graded readers.
- Learn phrases, not single words:
Instead of “decision” → “make a decision,” “big decision,” “tough decision.”
- Spaced repetition: Use a flashcard app for sentences you actually want to say.
Writing practice
- Copy + change: Take a short paragraph and rewrite it with your own details.
- Get feedback: Post short texts (5–10 sentences) in a learning community or ask me to correct them.
A simple weekly plan
- Mon/Wed/Fri: 10 min listening + 10 min speaking
- Tue/Thu: 15 min reading + 5 min writing
- Weekend: 30 min movie/video + shadowing
If you tell me your level (beginner / intermediate / advanced) and your goal (speaking, grammar, job interviews, exam, etc.), I’ll make you a tight daily routine and give you practice prompts.
